Accessing Supplemental and Referral Reports

If your organization is connected to Mayo Clinic Laboratories (MCL) through a Health Level 7 (HL7) lab systems interface, the majority of your MCL test results are sent directly and securely to your laboratory information system (LIS).

However, a small subset of tests within MCL’s test catalog contain report content that might not be transmissible through HL7 interfaces.

For these tests, you can directly retrieve full result reports including supplemental content from the MayoACCESS and MayoLINK® ordering applications:

  • From MayoACCESS, you can view or download reports with supplemental content in PDF format. Instructions can be found in the Managing Test Results section of the MayoACCESS User Guide.
  • From MayoLINK, you can view or download reports in PDF, JPG, PNG, or TIF format. Instructions can be found in the View Test Results document in the MayoLINK Resources.

The following types of reports are available:

Supplemental Reports (Sup)

A Supplemental report provides supplementary information that may not be transmissible through an HL7 interface. Supplemental reports contain enhanced content such as graphs, photos, tables, additional interpretation, and text.

There are two types of Supplemental reports: Supplemental and Supplemental RE. A limited number of tests generate Supplemental RE reports.
